Exosomes
Exosome treatment in Marylebone, London: a topical exosome serum applied during microneedling to support skin repair, tone and texture over a course of three sessions, four weeks apart.
The short answer
What are exosomes?
Exosomes are tiny vesicles released by cells that carry signalling molecules such as proteins, lipids and growth factors between them. In skincare they are used as a concentrated topical serum. In the UK, exosome products are cosmetic products applied to the skin, not injectables, and Helena never injects them. She applies the serum during and immediately after microneedling, so the micro-channels created by the needles carry it into the upper layers of the skin while the natural repair response is at its most active. The aim is better overall skin quality: tone, texture, fine lines and glow. A course of three sessions, four weeks apart, is standard. Results vary between individuals.

What to expect from an exosome course
Consultation & preparation
Stop retinoids, exfoliating acids and any at-home peels for five to seven days before treatment, and avoid sunbathing or fake tan for a week. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Tell Helena about any medicines, supplements, cold sores or previous treatments at your consultation.
During treatment
Aftercare
Leave the skin free of makeup for 24 hours and avoid direct sun, heat, saunas and exercise for 48 hours. Use only the gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF Helena recommends until any pinkness and flaking have settled, usually within a few days, then reintroduce active products gradually.

FAQ
Exosome FAQs
Are exosomes injected?
No. In the UK, exosome products are topical cosmetic serums, not injectables. Helena applies the serum to the skin during and immediately after microneedling, so the tiny channels made by the needles carry it into the upper layers of the skin. Nothing is injected, and no needle delivers the product itself.
What are exosomes, in plain terms?
Exosomes are tiny packages released by cells that carry signalling molecules such as proteins and growth factors. In skincare they are applied as a serum to support the skin as it repairs after microneedling. Helena will explain the specific product she uses, where it comes from and what it contains at your consultation.
How many exosome sessions do I need?
The usual course is three sessions, four weeks apart, each combined with microneedling. Skin renews slowly, so the improvement in texture, tone and glow builds across the course rather than after one visit. Once the course is complete, a maintenance session every six to nine months helps keep the result.
What is the downtime after exosomes with microneedling?
Expect your skin to look pink, a little like mild sunburn, for 24 to 48 hours, with some tightness or light flaking over the following days. Avoid makeup for 24 hours, direct sun, heat and exercise for 48 hours, and use only the gentle products Helena recommends until your skin has settled.
Who is exosome treatment suitable for?
It suits people who want to improve overall skin quality: dull or uneven tone, fine lines, enlarged pores, mild acne scarring or skin that feels tired after hormonal change. It is not suitable during pregnancy, with active acne or infection, or on very sensitive, inflamed skin. Helena assesses suitability at your consultation.
