Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy in Marylebone, London: a bespoke cocktail of vitamins, amino acids and hyaluronic acid delivered into the skin by micro-injection or microneedling over a course of four to six sessions.

The short answer

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy delivers a blend of nutrients directly into the middle layer of the skin, where a cream cannot reach. The cocktail is usually built around non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid with vitamins, amino acids, minerals and antioxidants, chosen for the concern in front of Helena: dryness, dullness, fine lines or skin that has lost its firmness. It can be placed with a series of very fine micro-injections or spread across the face with microneedling. Mesotherapy does not add volume or change your features. A course of four to six sessions, two weeks apart, is standard. Results vary between individuals.

  • Known allergy to any ingredient in the cocktail or to lidocaine where a numbing agent is used

Patient journey

What to expect from a mesotherapy course

Consultation & preparation

Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil supplements for 24 to 48 hours before treatment to reduce bruising, unless prescribed. Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids for three days beforehand and arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Tell Helena about any medicines, supplements or previous treatments at your consultation.

During treatment

Aftercare

Leave the skin free of makeup for 12 to 24 hours and avoid touching or rubbing it. Skip saunas, steam, intense exercise and alcohol for 24 hours, and stay out of direct sun for 48 hours. Redness, small bumps or the odd bruise usually settle within one to three days.

Mesotherapy FAQs

What is in a mesotherapy cocktail?

A typical blend combines non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid with vitamins, amino acids, minerals and antioxidants chosen for your skin. Helena selects the mix at your consultation based on whether your main concern is dryness, dullness, fine lines or loss of firmness. She will always tell you exactly what is being used.

Micro-injection or microneedling: which is better?

Both deliver the same ingredients into the skin, just by a different route. Micro-injections place small amounts precisely, which suits targeted areas such as around the eyes or mouth. Microneedling spreads the cocktail evenly across a larger area like the whole face. Helena recommends the method that fits your skin and comfort level.

How many mesotherapy sessions will I need?

Most people have four to six sessions, two weeks apart. Hydration and glow tend to improve early in the course, while texture and firmness take longer as the skin responds. Helena asks you to allow at least three months before judging the result, then discuss maintenance based on how your skin has responded.

Does mesotherapy hurt?

Discomfort is usually mild. Numbing cream is applied beforehand, and the needles used are very fine and shallow. Most people describe a light prickling or scratching sensation rather than pain. The face is a little more sensitive around the eyes and mouth, and Helena works slowly in those areas to keep you comfortable.

How is mesotherapy different from skin boosters?

Skin boosters use a soft hyaluronic acid gel that holds water in the skin for months. Mesotherapy uses a lighter, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid blended with vitamins and amino acids, delivered in a series of closer sessions. Mesotherapy feeds the skin over a short course; skin boosters hold hydration for longer. Helena sequences both across a year.
