Sculptra

Sculptra in Marylebone, London: a poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator injected over a course of three sessions to encourage your own collagen production, with results that build gradually and can last up to two years.

The short answer

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable material that has been used in dissolvable stitches for decades. Rather than filling a line or hollow directly, it prompts the skin to produce new collagen around each tiny particle over the following months. The volume you see later is your own tissue. Because the change arrives slowly, it tends to look natural and is rarely noticed by other people as a treatment. Helena uses Sculptra where the face has lost fullness with age: the cheeks, temples, jawline and lower face. A course of three sessions, six to eight weeks apart, is standard. Results vary between individuals.

Why choose Sculptra at Novaderma Aesthetics

  • Works with your own collagen, so the result is your tissue rather than a gel
  • Gradual change over months that reads as refreshed rather than done
  • Can last up to two years after a full course of three sessions
  • Suited to broader loss of fullness across the cheeks, temples and lower face
  • Carried out by a Registered Nurse after a face-to-face consultation
  • Often sequenced with dermal fillers or Profhilo as part of a bespoke plan

Sculptra FAQs

How is Sculptra different from a dermal filler?

A hyaluronic acid filler adds volume the moment it is placed. Sculptra works differently: the poly-L-lactic acid particles themselves are gradually absorbed, and the volume you see later comes from the collagen your own skin has built around them. That is why results appear slowly and tend to look very natural.

How long does Sculptra take to work?

Sculptra is not an instant treatment. You may notice some fullness straight after your appointment from the water in the product, but that settles within days. The collagen response builds over the following months, with the change usually clear after the third session. Helena asks you to allow at least three months.

How long do Sculptra results last?

Because the improvement comes from your own collagen rather than a gel that slowly dissolves, Sculptra results can last up to two years after a full course of three sessions. How long they hold depends on your age, skin and lifestyle. Many people book a single top-up session when they feel ready.

Why do I need to massage my face after Sculptra?

Massage helps the product spread evenly through the tissue and lowers the chance of small lumps forming as collagen builds. Helena will show you the technique before you leave. The usual guidance is five minutes of massage, five times a day, for five days, and she will tailor this to the areas treated.

Which areas can Sculptra treat?

Sculptra is most often used where the face has lost fullness with age: the cheeks, temples, the hollows in front of the ears, the jawline and the lower face. It is not used in the lips or directly under the eyes. Helena will map the areas with you at your consultation.
