Skin Boosters

Skin boosters in Marylebone, London: injectable hyaluronic acid placed just beneath the skin of the face, neck, chest or hands to restore hydration, softness and glow over a course of two to three sessions.

The short answer

What are skin boosters?

Skin boosters are soft hyaluronic acid gels injected in tiny amounts across an area of skin rather than into one spot. Unlike a dermal filler, they are not designed to add shape or volume. Their job is to hold water in the dermis, so skin that has started to look dry, crepey or tired by mid-afternoon regains a smoother, better hydrated surface. Helena uses them on the face, neck, chest and the backs of the hands. Most people have a course of two to three sessions, then a maintenance appointment every four to six months. Some products, such as SkinVive, are maintained once a year. Results vary between individuals.

Areas treated

Why choose skin boosters at Novaderma Aesthetics

  • Hydration held within the skin for months, rather than sitting on the surface
  • Suitable for the face, neck, chest and hands, the areas that often show dryness first
  • No added volume or change of shape, so you still look like yourself
  • Carried out by a Registered Nurse after a face-to-face consultation
  • Sits naturally alongside Profhilo, polynucleotides and anti-wrinkle injections in a bespoke plan
  • Little downtime, with most people back to their day the same afternoon

Boundaries of practice

What's not treated

Good practice means saying no when indicated:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active skin infection, cold sores or inflammation in the treatment area
  • Known allergy to hyaluronic acid or to lidocaine where a numbing agent is used
  • Autoimmune conditions or a history of keloid scarring, assessed individually
  • Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication without agreement from the prescribing clinician
  • Under 18 years of age

Patient journey

What to expect from a skin booster course

Consultation & preparation

Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil supplements for 24 to 48 hours before treatment to reduce bruising, unless prescribed. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the area being treated. Tell Helena about any medicines, supplements or previous treatments at your consultation.

During treatment

Aftercare

Leave the treated skin free of makeup and avoid touching or massaging it for 12 hours. Skip saunas, steam, intense exercise and alcohol for 24 hours. Small bumps and any redness usually settle within a day or two, and Helena remains contactable if you have questions.

Skin booster FAQs

How are skin boosters different from dermal fillers?

Skin boosters and dermal fillers are both made from hyaluronic acid, but they do different jobs. A filler is a firmer gel placed in one area to restore shape or volume. A skin booster is a much softer gel spread across an area in tiny amounts to hydrate the skin itself, without changing your features.

How many skin booster sessions will I need?

Most people have a course of two to three sessions, spaced around four weeks apart, then a maintenance session every four to six months. Some products, such as SkinVive, are maintained once a year. Helena will confirm the right number for your skin at your consultation, as it depends on the area and your starting point.

When will I see results from skin boosters?

Hydration tends to improve over the two to four weeks after each session as the hyaluronic acid draws water into the skin. The fuller effect on texture and glow builds across the course, so Helena asks you to allow at least three months before judging the result. Results vary between individuals.

Do skin boosters hurt, and is there any downtime?

Numbing cream is applied before treatment, so most people describe a series of small pinches rather than pain. Afterwards you may see tiny bumps, redness or the odd bruise at the injection points. These usually settle within a day or two, and most people return to normal activities the same day.

Can skin boosters be used on the neck, chest and hands?

Yes. The neck, chest and backs of the hands are common areas because their skin is thin and often shows dryness and fine crepiness early. The technique is the same as on the face, with small deposits of hyaluronic acid spread across the area. Helena will discuss which areas belong in your plan.
