Profhilo
Profhilo in Marylebone, London with Helena Casales-Arregui, Registered Nurse: an injectable hyaluronic acid bioremodeller that spreads beneath the skin to improve hydration, firmness and glow across the face or neck in a 30-minute treatment.
The short answer
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is an injectable made from a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, stabilised without the chemical cross-linkers used in fillers. Rather than holding its shape, it spreads slowly through the skin over about 24 hours, drawing in water and prompting the skin to make new collagen and elastin. The aim is better hydration and firmness, with no added volume and no change to your features. Helena uses it for the face and neck where the concern is skin quality itself, in a treatment that takes around 30 minutes.

FAQ
Profhilo FAQs
How many Profhilo treatments do I need?
The standard course is two treatments 4 weeks apart, with a third added where the skin needs it. Hydration improves within a few weeks of the first treatment and firmness builds over the following two to three months. After that, a single maintenance treatment at around 6 months keeps the effect going. Results vary between individuals.
Is Profhilo a filler?
No. Both are made from hyaluronic acid, but a filler is cross-linked to hold its shape and add volume in one place. Profhilo is bonded differently so that it spreads through the skin, hydrating it and stimulating new collagen and elastin. It improves skin quality across the face without changing your features or adding volume anywhere.
Does Profhilo hurt, and is there downtime?
Most people find it comfortable: there are only five injection points on each side of the face, and each takes a moment. You may feel a sting as the product goes in. Small bumps at each point flatten over a few hours, and mild redness or bruising can occur. You can usually return to your day straight afterwards.
When will I see results from Profhilo?
Skin usually feels more hydrated within two to three weeks of the first treatment, and the firming effect builds after the second as new collagen forms. Helena asks you to allow at least 3 months from the start of the course before judging the full result, because skin regeneration takes time. Individual responses vary.
Can I have Profhilo with other treatments?
Yes, and Helena often plans it that way. Profhilo improves the skin itself, so it works well before or alongside anti-wrinkle injections, which address movement lines, and dermal fillers, which restore volume. Polynucleotides can be added for the under-eye area. Timing between treatments is set out in your plan so each has room to work.
